'Scientology and its Fatal Promise. Maybe.'

According to www.adherents.com (Which is the source used by Wikipedia, incidentally) there are about a half-million Scientologists worldwide. Hardly a lofty number; but hardly a definitive source. If some other topical website with a digital veneer of credibility said the count was higher, I'd say, sure, sounds good.' On its "video channel" website, www.Scientology.org (a navigational Flash nightmare) Scientology describes itself (among other things) as "the only major new religion to have emerged in the 20th century." In this same Flash presentation, the Scientological' collective claims to be "millions strong" and that "People from all walks of life use it every day" (a religion we can use!?) and that "It is growing at an incredible rate" (incredible, really?). Scientology is full of some truly wondrous shit, I must say...The FAQ' section of the Scientology home page is massive - fifty damned pages, in fact (they've got a lot of explaining to do) - and it's all very ambiguous, vapid drivel with a few enlightening sprigs dried, diced and dashed throughout...
